The Audio Engineering Society restructured its annual show for 2026, and the change is easier to see in the floor plan than in the programme. AES Show Nashville ran from 30 October to 1 November at the Gaylord Opryland as an experience-driven event rather than a conventional exhibition, and the immersive and spatial audio content was delivered inside dedicated listening rooms hosted by ADAM Audio and Genelec rather than from a stand. Genelec brought its UNIO monitoring ecosystem to booth 119 - 8320A, 8331A and 8341A SAM monitors with a 7360 subwoofer, the 9320A Reference Controller running GLM 5, and the 9401A and 9402A interfaces for Ravenna and Dante - but the masterclass series hosted by Thomas Lund happened in the room, framed around ITU-R BS.1116 compliance and auditory envelopment rather than around a product feature list.
That relocation matters because it changes what is being sold. On a show floor a monitor is compared by specification; in a calibrated room it is compared by what a listener hears at a known seat, against a known standard. Once a demonstration depends on the room, the room becomes part of the claim: the acoustic treatment, the seating position, the calibration file and the network path all have to be reproducible, or the comparison is worthless. The same logic has been moving through commercial AV for several years, where experience centres and reference installations now carry more weight in a tender than a data sheet, and where a failed demonstration in a bad room can end a product's chances regardless of its measurements.
The second signal is quieter and more technical. Monitoring chains are increasingly networked: the 9401A and 9402A put Ravenna and Dante audio into a monitoring system that used to be entirely analogue and point to point. That is convenient, but it moves clocking, latency and channel mapping into the monitoring path, which is exactly the chain engineers use to judge everything else. A reference room on an audio network needs its own PTP discipline, its own documented sample rate and a way to prove that what reached the loudspeaker is what left the workstation. Immersive work multiplies the problem: 7.1.4 or larger beds mean twelve or more channels that must arrive with the right identity, not merely the right level.
Amtune supplies the transport and routing layer that such rooms depend on. Dante and AES67 networked audio carries the monitoring and production channels on one supervised network with independent clocking, Dante audio modules and AES67 modules drop that transport into OEM and installed products, and a seamless hybrid matrix with multiview processing handles the picture side of a studio or demonstration space. Build quality is under ISO 9001 with CE, FCC and RoHS compliance. Studio and reference-room enquiries at sales@amtune.com.
