A quick-service chain refreshing 200 stores does not buy 200 AV systems. It buys one template and 200 installations of it, and the template has to survive a franchisee's ceiling, a building from 1998 and a menu board whose content is a single canvas split across three panels. That is why the specification work happens once, at the front, and why the failures that matter are the ones that recur - a panel that comes up at the wrong resolution in store 87, a drive-thru order point the crew cannot hear over the fryer extract. The refresh cycle makes it worse: menu content changes quarterly, panels change every five years, and the two cycles almost never line up.
Front of house is a composition problem. Menu boards are typically three displays driven as one wide canvas, so the source is scaled once and every output has to report the same EDID or the seam lands in the middle of a price. Promotional screens and the order confirmation display are separate sources and must not mirror the menu, which makes this a matrix job rather than a splitter job. Amtune's seamless hybrid matrices and multi-viewers drive the canvas and the promotion window from one chassis, with per-output scaling so a replaced panel at a different native resolution does not force a redesign.
Back of house is an audio problem with hard edges. Drive-thru audio has to be intelligible over extraction, refrigeration and traffic, and it has to duck correctly when the crew speaks. Kitchen displays, crew paging and the dining area need separate zones and separate priorities, which is where Dante and AES67 audio earns its place: one network, zone routing in software, and a paging priority that can be changed without pulling cable. Stores that already have 70V loudspeakers keep them, with the DSP bridge sitting in the rack. None of this is exotic, which is the point - a franchise cannot afford exotic.
The rollout discipline is what separates a 20-store pilot from a 200-store programme. One rack drawing, one cable schedule, one label convention, one commissioning sheet a store technician can complete in 45 minutes, firmware frozen per wave so a mid-rollout update does not create two support queues, and a regional spares kit holding the parts that actually fail. Remote monitoring closes the loop: AV-over-IP decoders and HDBaseT extenders that report reachability let a support desk see store 143 before a customer does. Amtune builds the signal chain for that template rather than for a single flagship site.
