Fixed-installation audio is now specified network first, and the equipment reflects it. At LEaT con 2026 in Hamburg, held from 6 to 8 October, Monacor showed the pattern clearly: a bidirectional analogue-to-Dante and AES67 matrix with four analogue inputs and four outputs plus on-board DSP, a power amplifier series that includes a Dante-equipped variant and packs four or eight zones into a half-rack chassis, and compact loudspeakers carrying EN 54-24 certification for voice alarm duty. A single rack now serves many zones while the audio itself arrives over the network, and in life-safety applications that stream has to be as dependable as the cabling it replaced.
For the companies building that hardware, the difficult part is rarely the DSP or the amplifier. It is the network audio stack: Dante and AES67 clocking, multicast group management, sample-rate conversion, latency configuration, device discovery, firmware maintenance and the interoperability testing that proves a device talks cleanly to other vendors’ equipment. Developing that in house means building a specialist team, holding certifications, and re-validating everything after every firmware release. Embedding a tested module moves that burden to the module supplier and removes months from a product schedule, which is usually the difference between shipping this season and next.
The selection criteria are unglamorous but decisive. Check channel count and supported sample rates and bit depths against the product’s real use, confirm Dante operation together with AES67 for interoperability beyond a single ecosystem, and look at redundancy, PoE and how the module is addressed and monitored over the network. Mechanical fit and thermal headroom matter too, because a card designed for a 1U amplifier may not survive in a sealed mixer chassis. A modular architecture is worth far more than a single large design: one base platform can then serve a desktop unit, a rack amplifier and an OEM variant through nothing more than a different card. The analogue side deserves equal attention, since a networked stream is only ever as good as the conversion that follows it — clock jitter, noise floor and THD+N decide the result.
Amtune supplies exactly this building-block layer. The Dante and AES67 networked audio modules cover distributed audio installations, while the dedicated Dante modular and AES67 modular lines are designed for OEM integration into mixers, amplifiers, matrix processors and conferencing devices, and the HiFi DAC and preamplifier platform handles the conversion stage where measurement matters. All products are manufactured under an ISO 9001 quality system and tested to CE, FCC and RoHS standards, with OEM and ODM variants for partners building their own badged ranges.
