Amtune HDBaseT Extenders For Hospitality Venues

Hospitality has the least patience for AV that misbehaves. The winner of Best Pub to Watch Sport at the Great British Pub Awards 2026 illustrates the problem precisely: fourteen televisions of similar make were originally controlled by individual infrared remotes that interfered with one another, so changing the channel on one screen could change another, and during busy fixtures staff ended up managing screens instead of the room. The fix was structural rather than cosmetic. A stackable HDBaseT matrix now distributes four satellite sources from a single rack to all fourteen displays, thirteen indoors and one outside, delivering 4K video with no perceptible delay and, crucially, independently of the venue’s data network. Staff switch sources, channels and volume across nine independent audio zones from one interface, and a single button sets the venue for everyday service or for match day.

The technical reason hospitality keeps choosing HDBaseT over a shared local area network is predictability. A pub, hotel or restaurant runs point-of-sale terminals, guest wi-fi, staff devices and streaming music on the same infrastructure, and that traffic peaks exactly when the venue is busiest. An extension technology that carries video, audio, control, Ethernet and power over one dedicated cable to each display, with a fixed and low latency, removes the venue’s IT network from the signal path altogether. It also keeps the design legible to whoever maintains it later, because each screen has one known home run rather than a dependency on switch configuration.

The retrofit rules that keep these projects out of trouble are consistent. Build a single central head end where sources and receivers can be reached without ladders. Size the matrix against zones rather than total screen count, using mirrored outputs where several displays always show the same content. Plan cable distances honestly, because a 4K signal over category cable has a real reach and the specification should be met rather than assumed. Use power over HDBaseT so receivers need no local supply behind a screen. Keep audio zoning separate from video routing, since a venue wants one match on many screens but different volume in the bar, the dining room and the terrace. Finally, choose a control surface that a duty manager can operate from the bar during service, and leave a management path so the integrator can diagnose faults remotely instead of driving out on a Saturday night.

Amtune builds the hardware this kind of venue needs. The AV extender range carries 4K video, audio and control over category cable for single long runs, HD video seamless hybrid matrices handle multi-source venues where screens must switch without a visible gap, AV switchers cover smaller rooms with automatic input selection, and HD video multi-viewers plus the seamless hybrid matrix multiview processor put several feeds on one display for sports and wayfinding layouts. Every product is manufactured under an ISO 9001 quality system and tested to CE, FCC and RoHS standards.
