Financial services is two AV markets wearing one industry label. A trading floor is a density problem: six to eight displays per desk, sixty to two hundred desks in one room, plus a wall of broadcast and market-data feeds at the front. A bank branch is a repetition problem: three to six screens, hundreds of sites, nobody on site who can diagnose anything. The hardware overlaps almost completely and the requirements pull in opposite directions, which is why a single template imposed on both usually satisfies neither.
On the floor, the constraint is market hours. A blank screen at 09:25 is not an inconvenience, it is an incident with a cost measured in minutes of trading, and the person affected is not going to log a ticket. That pushes the design toward redundancy rather than features: a matrix core with hot-spare outputs, sources that can be re-routed from a control surface in one action, and multi-viewer layouts that are preset per desk type so a recovery is a button, not a rebuild. Where the workstation itself must live in a secure comms room - increasingly the case for compliance and physical-security reasons - the desk connection becomes a KVM link carrying video, USB keyboard and mouse, and often a second display.
Distances inside a dealing room are short, so the transport is rarely the hard part; the hard part is cable management under a raised floor and heat behind a bank of monitors. Where a desk cluster sits more than a comfortable copper run from the matrix, an HDBaseT or fibre link is the answer and the same per-output EDID discipline applies, because a wall of identical panels will still be a mix of ages by year three. Audio is usually forgotten until paging and background music in the branch network turn out to need their own zones, at which point Dante or AES67 on the same infrastructure is far cheaper than a parallel analogue system.
The branch is the opposite discipline. Standardise one bill of materials, document it once, and make every site identical so a swap is a like-for-like replacement rather than a survey. That means fixed rack heights, one power supply type, saved configurations that can be loaded from a file, and remote reachability so a reboot or a source change happens without a van. Amtune supplies seamless hybrid matrices and multi-viewer processors for the floor, HDBaseT extenders for the desk and branch runs, Dante and AES67 audio for zoned paging, and converters for the legacy signage players banks tend to keep far longer than anyone plans.
